AFTER PRELIMINARY DAMAGE ASSESSMENT THROUGHOUT TOWN, THERE ARE SEVERAL TREES AND POWER LINES DOWN. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM DOWNED POWER LINES AND CALL 911 TO REPORT ANY DOWN IN YOUR AREA.

WE ASK RESIDENTS TO REMAIN INDOORS UNTIL THE STORM PASSES. HURRICANE FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS.

NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS REGARDING DEBRIS/BULKY ITEMS PICKUP

Please be advised of these requirements prior to placing vegetative debris or bulky items at the street for pickup: The Town does not pick up vegetative debris generated by contractors for non-residential and multi-family development customers. Do not mix vegetative debris with other materials. Do not place vegetative debris in the street. All debris must be a minimum of two feet from the edge of pavement. Do not place vegetative debris in front of a fire hydrant. Do not place vegetative debris within twenty feet of an intersection or in a manner that will impair the ability of the traveling public to see oncoming traffic. Residents should place all debris on their property. Please do not place vegetative debris on town parks, the railroad right of way, or undeveloped/unoccupied property. *In regards to bulky items the Town will collect large items (residential only) such as furniture, mattresses and appliances on the same day as yard waste. YOU CAN NOW MONITOR YOUR WATER USAGE ONLINE

As part of the recent meter conversion project, the Town now has the capability to monitor water usage for all of our customers, as well as giving access to our customers to monitor their own usage on a daily basis. EyeOnWater is a customer portal website that allows our customers to create a login ID so they can see their water usage on their meter and account with the Town of Burgaw. To monitor your daily water usage, please visit EyeOnWater. To create your login, all you need is your zip code and Account ID. MOSQUITO SPRAYING

Public Works would like to put out a reminder that mosquito spraying season is coming up! Once the weather is consistently warmer we will begin our usual spraying.

If you have bees or other sensitive wildlife that can be affected by the chemicals used in the spraying, please e-mail your name, address, and phone number to Christina Abbood at cabbood@townofburgaw.com so we can have a copy of the digital record. We want to make sure all our wonderful beekeepers around town are kept safe while keeping the mosquitos in check.  Thank you!

CODE RED EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM IS NOW ACTIVE

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM IS NOW ACTIVE The Town of Burgaw has implemented an emergency notification system through ECN/CodeRED. This system allows Town staff to notify residents of emergency situations all at once at no cost to residents. Emergency situations would consist of boil water notices, emergency shut-off of water to a particular area, etc. Town staff will be able to notify residents of non-emergency situations like a change in the trash pickup schedule, etc. Residents will be contacted based on the phone number associated with your utility account. Coyotes seen in Town

  In the past couple months the Town has received several complaints regarding the presence of coyotes within the town limits.  The complaints have ranged from simply seeing a coyote to reports of the animals attacking and killing pets.  Although the presence of coyotes in Southeastern North Carolina is nothing new what seems to be a change in behavior, at least for the coyotes in our area, is their willingness to scavenge the more populated areas including downtown area as well as the residential areas immediately surrounding the central business district of Burgaw.    Unfortunately the research shows that this change in behavior is common for coyotes.  Generally, coyotes are reclusive animals who avoid human contact.  Coyotes who have adapted to urban and suburban environments, however, may realize there are few real threats and may approach people or feel safe visiting yards even when people are present.  These coyotes have become habituated (lost their fear of humans) and have... read more
 

TOWN OF BURGAW NOW ACCEPTING ON LINE PAYMENTS!

The Town of Burgaw has recently begun accepting utility payments online. Click the following link, https://wipp.edmundsassoc.com/WippBURG/ or access this link through our Customer Service Central located at the top of the Town of Burgaw website. To access your account information online please have your utility bill available. Located on the utility bill stub, please enter your utility account number along with PIN located beside the account number. Your account information will be displayed and you will be able to make a payment. There is a convenience fee of $1.05 per transaction if paying by check online and 2.95% if paid by debit/credit card online.  Please be advised that utility payments are due by the 10th of every month with a grace period until the 15th. Any balances not paid by 5:00pm on the 15th will be assessed a $35.00 late fee. For balances not paid by 5:00pm on the 20th of every month, service will be disconnected. REFLECTIVE ADDRESS SIGNS

Many houses and/or mailboxes have small numbers, faded numbers, missing numbers or worse no numbers at all. To try and remedy this issue the fire department has partnered with Interstate Sign Productions to offer at a minimal cost of $10.00, green metal reflective address signs for your yard and/or your mailbox post. Reflective address signs are highly visible both day and night, they are made of high quality aluminum and will last for many years. Being able to identify address numbers quickly enhances the productivity of the fire department when responding to an emergency. Fire department staff may be able to assist with installation free of charge. Black address numbers for your home are also available at no charge.
