The Planning and Zoning Board is an advisory board comprised of nine (9) citizens, seven of which must reside within the corporate limits of the Town and two of which must reside in the extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). The Planning Board reviews all development proposals for rezoning and other development related requests. The Planning Board also reviews and makes recommendations for revisions and additions to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). The Board of Commissioners relies on the Planning and Zoning Board for guidance; the Planning and Zoning Board has no judicial authority. There are no term limits.

The Planning and Zoning Board meets the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the Burgaw Municipal Building located at 109 N Walker Street in Burgaw, NC.
