Planning Department

The Planning Department administers the guidelines of the Town of Burgaw Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) on zoning and land use within the town and its extraterritorial jurisdiction.  Some of its responsibilities include advising town boards on land use and development issues, managing capital projects and strategic planning for parks and recreation, developing strategic plans, and issuing zoning and sign permits.  It also serve as the point-of-contact for citizens and property owners seeking variances to the UDO, applying for special use permits or voluntary annexation, and appealing staff planning decisions.  Other department activities include nuisance abatement, subdivision review, grant writing, and special projects (e.g. Burgaw Incubator Kitchen, Historic Walking Tour).

The Planning Department is located at 103 N. Walker St., across the parking lot from Town Hall, Police Department, and Fire Department.  Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
